Not just another wedding show

What is The Wedding Collective? We asked Priya Tanna, President, The Right Side, why this event stands out in the retail landscape

From August 23-25, 2024, the Jio World Centre (JWC) in Mumbai will be the epicentre of wedding dreams with the debut of The Wedding Collective. This exclusive, invite-only event promises to bring every wedding fantasy to life under one roof. Over 100 top-tier brands and experiences, including the nation’s premier couturiers, jewellers, sari labels, gifting services, and F&B, will converge in a beautifully designed pavilion at the JWC.

But in a market saturated with exhibitions and bridal shows, what sets The Wedding Collective apart?  We asked Priya Tanna, President, The Right Side, RIL, the agency behind this event, on why this is NOT just another wedding show.

It’s been a busy year for your team. Post the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) and Jio World Plaza (JWP) launches, you also saw the birth of The Nod Magazine. Now, it’s time for The Wedding Collective. How did this come together?

A wedding is such an important and seminal moment in our culture, carrying deep emotional and traditional significance. They're also a major part of the retail landscape, representing significant business opportunities. While there are many offerings around the country, we come from a position of scale, with a consummate end-to-end wedding offering, that’s not only for the bride and groom, but also for the family and the guests as well. The Wedding Collective will be the most curated, immersive wedding experience the country has seen.

Sounds exciting. What can people expect?

Let’s face it, the retail experience has become incredibly important. And this is what we’ve kept top of mind when designing the event. Without giving too much away, expect impeccable decor, top designers, a wide array of jewellers, and diverse gifting services. Guests will explore beautifully designed pavilions showcasing everything from hand-picked sari labels to exceptional F&B provided by the JWC team. With one of the largest banquet spaces in the country at our disposal, tailor-made for weddings, it will be an unparalleled experience.

What are you most excited about?

I’m incredibly excited about bringing together different verticals of Reliance. It’s what I set out to do with founding The Right Side. We will have the best of beauty curated by Tira, accessories and home by Ajio Luxe, as well as an exciting collaboration with the Swadesh Foundation. We have also collaborated with Ahmedabad based Jaina Lalbhai, who will bring an Artisanal Audit of ready-to-wear and bridal clothing, sharp focus on textiles. I’ve always enjoyed her curation and am excited about the labels she has on board. There’s really so much—and I just want to say, you won’t believe it, till you see it and experience it.

How can someone make the most of The Wedding Collective experience?

Plan for a two-day visit. We scheduled it over the weekend so people can come when they’re most relaxed. Bring those important to you. On Day 1, immerse yourself in the experience: explore the interactive stations, special lounges, and amazing F&B offerings. Take your time to see what resonates with you. Then, on Day 2, come back to make your final decisions.

While of course it’s called The Wedding Collective, and that’s a large focus, it’s not only for brides and grooms, correct?

Absolutely. It’s for anyone planning any festivities or celebrations. Young women starting their collection of traditional saris and weaves, those looking for gifts, or even those wanting to indulge in self-care at our beauty section. There’s something for everyone and that’s what makes it so special.
